Somewhere, Nowhere

For Spring Summer 2019, designer Miuccia Prada charged towards a more playful approach for her label Miu Miu. Presented last September in Paris, the collection featured a line of pieces that were elegant yet at the same time equally whimsical. From mid length dirty denim skirts and dresses to below the knee faux python pencil skirts and even double-breasted leather coats embellished with sequins and diamonds. Ms. Prada’s SS19 collection was a celebration of a woman who likes to play dress up. The collection’s line up however also included a selection of more polished pieces rendered in black and blue leather with a side of python to accompany. Each look styled with under-the-knee socks and heels, some accessorised with crazy hair and makeup. The styling of the collection presented a slightly more wonky alternative to the designer’s main label Prada. This was a woman with a younger spirit who isn’t afraid to go bonkers with her styling. For the campaign however, the brand took on a more somber approach drawing inspiration from the idea of moments frozen in passage, in transit from one experience to the next. Photographed by David The campaign features a bevy of models being transported in different vehicles. The scenery zooms in on the concept of poised transport as the ladies are all shot in looks from the collection yet embodying their own individual characters. "Neither arriving nor departing, these images celebrate the notion of simply being - the geography hazy, the timing uncertain, they present a universal, everywhere and anytime. Fleeting and transitory, reasoning uncertain, the travel could easily be an escape, or a coming home. The only concrete, the only constants, are the women themselves - singular, original, always unique".
