Wandler Spring Summer 2019
Dutch luxury leather brand Wandler first hit the market in 2017 as it was then locally launched in the Netherlands by designer Elza Wandler. Two years later, producing four collections a year, the brand has since established itself as one off the top upcoming Dutch, luxury, leather goods brands. With her designs, Wandler creates a distinctive aesthetic of the brand which includes consistent streaks of elegance with unexpected use of colours. Each piece channels a form of beaming modern day femininity which aptly reflects the designer’s persona and is dubbed after the names of her loved ones.
For the creation of the Spring Summer 2019 collection the designer revisited the core essentials of her leatherworking techniques which stems from her time spent at the core of Italy’s prominent artisanal leather community. This season’s the brand’s signature brands are given updates: The Hortensia Bag, Al Bag, Anna Belt Bag, Luna Bag and Mia Tote are characterised by leather framing, embellishments and hand painted piping techniques which aptly complement their sculptural structure. In this collection the brand honours centuries of old leather goods trade shows as they explore a new variety of finish and fines on the inherent attitude of leather. From this was born a few new stylish styles, colours and textures.
This season’s new new style and already the brand’s best seller is called the Yara Bag. It presents in a half moon silhouette defined by the playful oversized top panel with double-zip and complemented by gold-tone metal hardware. It features a rolled top handle and a detachable, adjustable shoulder strap. Other additions include a selection of bags being offered in python following the success of last season’s croco designs; matte hues; neon yellow, lacquer red, paper, Inca and gasoline glitter.
